Understand Cumberland County Releases
A release from Cumberland County Jail means the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office ended that booking's custody. It may mean the person went into the community, but not always. Bond, a court order, completion of a local sentence, dismissal, or time served can result in a community departure. Parole and probation place a person in the community under rules. A transfer to TDOC, another county, federal custody, or ICE is a departure from the jail without freedom from custody.
The record must therefore be read as an event owned by one custodian. The sheriff proves when its custody ended. A court record explains the legal order. TDOC FOIL shows whether a felony offender is incarcerated, on parole, on probation, or inactive. VINE can report a contributed custody change. None of those terms should be silently changed into a stronger conclusion.
- Release
- A custodian's recorded end to a specific period of confinement.
- Transfer
- Movement to another custodian, not release into the community.
- Discharge
- The end of a sentence or supervision obligation, when the governing record says so.
- Time served
- A court-recognized sentence satisfied by time already spent in custody.
- Detainer
- A request or legal hold that may cause transfer when the current custodian releases the person.
How Cumberland County Inmates Leave
Cumberland County release records must be matched to the actual release type. A date by itself does not reveal whether the person went home, entered supervision, or moved into another system. The court judgment, release authority, and receiving-custodian information help explain the event.
| Release path | What it means | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | County custody ends while the case continues under court terms. | Cumberland release card plus bond order and docket |
| Time served or sentence end | The local confinement term is credited or completed. | Release record plus judgment |
| Dismissal or acquittal | The relevant charge ended without a conviction, subject to any other holds. | Certified court disposition |
| Parole or probation | Physical confinement ends or is avoided while TDOC supervision remains active. | FOIL status and TDOC supervision record |
| TDOC transfer | The county booking ends and state custody begins. | FOIL and the receiving TDOC record |
| Federal or ICE transfer | Another sovereign takes custody. | Federal docket, BOP, USMS, VINE, or ICE record as applicable |
A death in custody may also close a jail record, but it is not a community release. The same caution applies when a card uses a generic departure label. Confirm the authority and destination rather than inferring them.
Cumberland County Release Record Fields
The Cumberland iSOMS cards place release information beside the booking facts. In the rolling views, a populated Release Date is the key field. A blank Release Date means the card does not prove a departure even if it appears inside a page titled for recent intake and release activity.
| Field | What it contributes |
|---|---|
| Name and booking photograph | Identity clues tied to the booking, not proof of guilt |
| Age, city, race and sex | Matching details that require careful, limited use |
| Class | The classification label displayed by the portal |
| Intake date and time | When the Cumberland booking began |
| Arresting department and officer | The agency that made the arrest, not necessarily the records custodian |
| Charge and bond | Booking allegations and bond entries, which can change in court |
| Release date and time | The sheriff's recorded end of that jail custody |
For durable proof, ask whether the retained file also has a booking number, release type or authority, and a public destination or transfer category. Protected medical, victim, juvenile, address, security, or investigative data may be redacted.
Request Cumberland County Release Records
The Tennessee Public Records Act begins at Tenn. Code Ann. §10-7-503. Tennessee citizens may inspect public records unless another law protects them. The Cumberland County inspection and copy form reflects the difference between inspection and a request for copies. Inspection alone ordinarily cannot be charged or forced into writing, while the custodian may require a written form for copies.
- Identify the person and the approximate Cumberland intake or release date. Add a booking number only if legitimately known.
- Ask the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office for the releasable booking and release record, actual release time, release type or authority, public transfer category, charge and bond fields, and booking photograph.
- State that redactions are acceptable. This helps the custodian separate protected fields rather than treating the request as all or nothing.
- Choose inspection, email, or copies. Ask for a cost estimate before paid copying, labor, programming, or delivery begins.
- Compare the sheriff event with the court disposition or receiving-custodian record when the meaning of the departure matters.

The county form lists $0.15 for standard black-and-white pages and $0.50 for standard color pages as cost lines, with labor after the first hour. CCSO publishes no separate flat booking-photo charge and no promised turnaround for these records, so no fixed total or delivery date should be assumed.
Cumberland Release Records After Expungement
Local expungement begins with the clerk of the criminal court that handled the Cumberland case. Tenn. Code Ann. §40-32-101 covers the process and eligibility. Dismissal, no true bill, arrest and release without a charge, acquittal, and nolle prosequi can fall within no-cost categories when statutory terms are met. Eligible convictions follow different offense, history, sentence-completion, and fee rules.
The Tennessee courts expungement resource is the sound starting point. The TBI explains that an entered order is distributed to the arresting agency, county jail, TBI, and other repositories. That helps explain why a Cumberland release card, booking photograph, or court result may later vanish from a public search. An absent item can also reflect sealing, juvenile confidentiality, a spelling issue, or unpublished online retention. It does not prove that no event occurred.
A court order controls the official record's legal status. A commercial image-removal claim does not replace the Cumberland clerk or §40-32-101 process.
Find Cumberland County Released Inmates
Start by identifying the custody that most recently ended. Recent Cumberland County Jail activity has a direct official route. A felony commitment requires TDOC. Federal imprisonment, federal pretrial custody, and civil immigration custody use different systems. A current jail roster is useful only while a person remains in that jail.
- Open the official iSOMS portal. Use the 24-hour window for the past day and the 72-hour window for events up to three days old. Require a populated Release Date.
- For an older county booking, enter the person's name in the portal Search form and select Released. Try a careful name variant if needed.
- If the record shows a felony commitment or transfer, search TDOC FOIL by TOMIS/TDOC or SID when known, or by name and aliases.
- Use VINE for a current custody-change check or notification. Follow a transfer into the receiving agency record.
- Search the Cumberland trial-court portal for the judgment, sentence, dismissal, bond order, or later disposition that explains the legal basis.
- Use BOP, the federal docket, USMS, or ICE only when the custody type makes that system relevant.
- When online sources are empty or unclear, call the custodian and request the underlying release record.
Released people usually drop off the live jail roster. Use the Released search, agency record, or court disposition instead of treating roster absence as proof.
The official portal navigation and the research-specific same-day workflow are covered in the Cumberland County 24-hour releases resource.
Cumberland Recent Release Search
The Cumberland County iSOMS portal has four distinct paths: the live Jail view, rolling 24-hour activity, rolling 72-hour activity, and name Search. The rolling pages include both current intakes and released cards. Their titles do not mean that every person shown was released. Read the Release Date field on each matched card.
The sheriff says the linked roster updates every hour. That does not guarantee the moment a new event will appear. The 24-hour card later rolls into and then out of the 72-hour window. The Released checkbox can locate older records, but CCSO does not publish the retrospective search's lookback or purge schedule. Record the access time when a transient page must be cited, and request the retained record when the web card is not enough.
The official Released search form shows the local name fields and Released control.

The form is a county release route, not a TDOC, federal, or universal historical search.
Cumberland TDOC Release Search
FOIL means Felony Offender Information Lookup. It covers people currently or formerly in Tennessee Department of Correction custody or supervision. A Cumberland misdemeanor booking that began and ended at the county jail may never appear there. A Cumberland felony case that moved into state custody can appear as incarcerated, parole, probation, or inactive.
| FOIL search field | Use |
|---|---|
| TDOC/TOMIS number | Strong identifier for the state record |
| SID | State identification route when known |
| Last and first name | Name route when no identifier is available |
| Race | Optional narrowing field |
| Include aliases | Useful when the record may use another known name |
| CAPTCHA | Required anti-automation step |
Read status before reading dates. Parole or probation means release from physical confinement with active supervision. Inactive means no active TDOC custody or supervision. Incarcerated means the person remains in state custody. Release Eligibility and Sentence Expires are legal or calculation milestones, not proof of an actual gate event.
The TDOC FOIL explanation describes its coverage, while the search interface shows its identifying fields.

For exact documentary proof, request the release or discharge record from TDOC Records Management and compare it with the Cumberland court judgment.
Cumberland Court Release Proof
Cumberland's durable trial-court route is county-specific. The official Circuit Court page links the tncrtinfo portal, rather than a universal Tennessee trial-court database. A docket can show the bond order, dismissal, plea, conviction, sentence, jail credit, probation, split confinement, revocation, or later order that explains why custody changed. It does not establish the exact jail gate time.
Circuit and General Sessions matters belong with the Cumberland County clerk, while Crossville City Court has a separate clerk. The court named on the charging or case record determines where to request a certified disposition. The sheriff at 90 Justice Center Drive supplies jail custody and release facts. The county clerk at 60 Justice Center Drive supplies the judgment and court history.
The Cumberland trial-court search is the local online starting point.

A strong confirmation pairs the sheriff's populated Release Date with the court order that gives the departure its legal meaning.
Cumberland Post-Release Recovery Courts
The Thirteenth Judicial District Recovery Courts serve Cumberland along with Clay, DeKalb, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, and White Counties. The regional program uses close court, clinical, and probation oversight for qualifying nonviolent felony participants. This local structure can explain why a court or supervision entry continues after physical release from jail.
A program description is not proof that any named person participates. Verify an individual status through the responsible court and TDOC record. If FOIL says probation or parole, the person is in the community under active state supervision. A Cumberland jail release card alone cannot establish the reporting office, conditions, successful discharge, or a Recovery Court placement. The full distinction and the District 31 contact route appear on the Cumberland post-release supervision page.
Getting Home After Cumberland Release
Release transportation is separate from proof of release. UCHRA's Pick-Up Upper Cumberland service advertises app-based on-demand scheduling, real-time trip tracking, and payment in Cumberland County. Its maps information also includes Crossville routes.
No source says the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office arranges this service or permits pickup at the jail door. A person planning a ride should verify the operating area, day, time, current fare, booking method, and a safe pickup point before depending on it. The release time shown on iSOMS may also change or post after processing, so transportation should not be built around an unconfirmed estimate.
Cumberland Federal Release Records
Cumberland County lies in the federal Middle District of Tennessee. USMS identifies a Cookeville courthouse location as well as Nashville district operations. A Cumberland-linked federal defendant can move through federal court or Marshals custody without creating any TDOC FOIL record.
The Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal sentenced custody from 1982 onward. A past release date with Released or Not in BOP Custody supports the end of BOP custody, but the person could remain subject to federal supervised release or another justice system. A future BOP date is projected. UNKNOWN means the date is undetermined. USMS offers no public release locator, so federal pretrial release should be checked through the docket or district contact. ICE's locator is different again and covers current civil immigration detention plus releases within its stated 60-day window.
Absence from BOP does not prove that a USMS-held defendant was released. A federal court order and the correct custodian's record provide the needed context.
Cumberland Registry Release Limits
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation registry has a Cumberland County filter and a separate choice to include incarcerated or prison registrants. Leaving that option off can narrow results toward community records. A Full Details result can contain the registering agency and last report or update.
This is only a limited route for people whom Tennessee law requires to register. It is not a general Cumberland County released inmate search. A community registry result does not prove a jail release date, the end of a sentence, or freedom from supervision. The record must be paired with the actual CCSO or TDOC custody event when release timing matters.
The official TBI registry search shows those controls.

Use the registry only for its legally defined population and preserve its exact status wording.
Compare Cumberland Release Systems
No single source proves every kind of Cumberland release. Choose the system from the custody and the question.
| System | Best use | What it cannot prove alone |
|---|---|---|
| Current Cumberland jail roster | Confirm present county-jail custody | An older release |
| 24/72-hour iSOMS views | Find recent cards with a populated Release Date | Community freedom after a transfer |
| Released name search | Find an older online Cumberland release card | Complete archival coverage |
| TDOC FOIL | State felony custody, parole, probation, or inactive status | A local-only misdemeanor release |
| VINE | Custody events and future alerts | Permanent historical proof or court disposition |
| Cumberland court portal | Judgment, order, sentence, and disposition | Exact jail departure time |
| BOP, USMS, or ICE | The matching federal custody type | A county or TDOC event |
When records conflict, identify the agency that supplied each field. Ask that custodian to correct its own record, and ask the responsible clerk about a court disposition or expungement issue.
Cumberland Release Facilities and Systems
The facility map includes the local jail and the outside systems that can receive or hold a Cumberland-linked person. Cumberland County has no prison on TDOC's official state-prison list. State classification, not the county of conviction, determines placement.
- Cumberland County Jail records local bookings, recent releases, and transfers.
- Tennessee Department of Correction covers statewide felony custody, community supervision, and discharge records.
- Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center is TDOC's primary diagnostic center for women entering state custody.
- Bledsoe County Correctional Complex provides the documented men's diagnostic context, though placement is not guaranteed.
- Federal Custody Releases explains BOP and USMS records for federal cases.
- ICE Custody Releases distinguishes civil immigration custody and the 60-day locator scope.
A release from one listed system does not erase another hold, sentence, or supervision duty. Confirm the departure with the agency record, then use the court or receiving-custodian record to explain what followed.
